What would Julia do?

Good Morning!  Bon Matin!

This morning the man with the French sweater appeared with a fresh baguette.  He was looking off into space dreaming of a hot breakfast.

I thought of the huge white asparagus in the fridge, and wondered, what would Julia do with a hot plate and asparagus.  The answer was obvious.  Fry it up in butter of course.  Mais oui!

The hot plate has a temperature dial, but also a timer.  Tis very smart.  In so many minutes it will turn itself off even if the woman in the American robe forgets...

Fresh from the shower, I got right to cooking.  When he began snapping pictures, the man was lucky he had on that great French sweater...

A little cheese... et VOILA.

We added fruit, and fresh croissants, and mmmmmmm.  C'est tres bien!

If you have not had a patisserie-fresh French croissant, you have not really tasted a croissant.  The best way to describe it is that it is like flaky butter.  Truly.  This might be my favorite French taste, and that is saying A LOT.  ooh la la.

Time to pack lunches.  That baguette will be cut up and we'll have cold cheese with grilled asparagus sandwiches later.  Et des pommes.  (apples)  It will all go in our handy market bag which we tote everywhere.

We are off to Sainte Chappelle and Musee D'Orsay.  (impressionist paintings...OUI...ma favorite!)  And then at 6:30 pm we have a three hour cooking demonstration at Le Cordon Bleu.  "An Evening in Honor of Julia Child."  OUI.

A bientot!

  1. Everything you put on that little table looks wonderful. Nice idea for home too, don't you think?

And, btw, your husband actually *looks* like a Frenchman with that sweater on!

Can't wait to hear about the Julia class. :)
